Historical market setting restaurant in Mayfair
Kitty Fishers is a small and cosy restaurant, set within the historic Shepard Market area of Mayfair. The market area has long since turned in to a cul de sac of bistros and cafes from the days of when Kitty Fisher herself was famed to being one of the most high-end escorts of the 18th Century. The restaurant enjoyed a period of being one of the most sought after places to be from approx 2011 – 2016 whereas now you can easily gain a table in a week or two when once this was inconceivable. Our lunch on this occasion was purely sharing small plates and the welsh rarebit with eel and chips were very well done I must say. Cod’s roe on toasted sourdough was pitched well as was the mackerel starter. Overall, we were both sated for £21 each with some pleasing options, emphasizing you do not need to do the full tasting menu with matching wines if you are not that hungry. Very pleased with this drop-in, which they still cater for at the counter and window cill. Just prepare yourself for a little bit of a squeeze inside in general.
