Creative and modern cooking in a restaurant overlooking the main canal of Murano
Vetri is a modern Restaurant located in an historic and converted glass factory, positioned overlooking the jaws of the main entranceway to the island of Murano (“Canale di Murano” or the “Murano Canal”), just outside of Venice. There were some extremely enjoyable dishes in this meal showcasing the local fish to very good levels, finishing off with a dessert, painted on our indoor table reminding me of scenes I saw at Alinea in Chicago. For the setting, design of menu, hospitality and overall impact, I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and would go back in a heartbeat. It also has a lovely coffee area on its ground floor open terrace which includes a large selection of savoury sandwiches and sweet confectionary options albeit with less, professional service that was experienced in the upstairs restaurant.

I have been coming yearly to Murano to do business with the Effetre Glass Factory. I have eaten there the last two times i was in Venice, and the food was great, but was very saddened by the way I was treated when i tried to make reservations for lunch. When I am in Murano, I am working and I do not dress up fancy, a T-shirt and jeans is my work clothes. When I got to the restaurant before they were open I walked past the menu outside and went to the hostess and said “I would like to make a reservation for lunch”. She asked me if i had seen the menu. I have never in over 30 years have I been asked if i saw the menu. I would think she looked at me and thought I might not be able to afford eating there. I told her that I had eaten here many times and did not need to read the menu. Only because the food is so good did I continue to make my reservation and as it has been in the past, the food was great. But that made me search for another restauarant where I might be treated better and i found Acqua Tanca. After only eating there two times they remembered my name and treated me well. I will be returning to Murano in March next year and will try your restaurant again. I heard that the restaurant changed owners and I hope that no matter what i wear, or how grubby I look, I get treated like everyone should be treated.
