Ex-pub now modern restaurant from the team behind The Woodspeen, Newbury
This was an impromptu drop in for lunch and I was delighted with all the positives. Three courses for £39 including home made bread and fabulous canapés represented excellent value for money especially at this level of cooking. The duck parfait starter was equally excellent; beautifully dense sardines; extremely succulent chicken (cooked in a four-stage process) and a fantastic and skilful apple crumble soufflé. Sam Brennan, the head chef (who cut his teeth in L’Ortolan and The Hand and Flowers) has created and executes a solid menu here and combined with the fact that it is another Luxury Restaurant Guide inclusion, means members of this receive a complimentary glass of champagne and for their guest makes this a highly recommended option.

My hobby-turned-passion began to evolve during my assignments to London where I was fortunate enough to be able to explore all the Michelin starred restaurants in my spare time and as a result, I gradually built up a catalogue of all these venues.
