Roof top restaurant on the 7th floor of Richard Branson's club off High Street Kensington set one floor above extensive gardens / outdoor club area on 6th floor
This is without question a wonderful spot in the summer for any occasion. You will need to walk down Derry St to access the restaurant (so don’t be fooled by their official address) and the restaurant sits on the 7th floor with the nightclub and gardens on the floor beneath. If one dines in the evening at Babylon on a Fri or Sat, an extra (discounted) amount will be added to the bill if you wish to have quick access to Richard Branson’s nightclub on the floor beneath which is actually well worth doing in the summer, even if for a couple of drinks.
I have been here on numerous occasions – my 30th Birthday for a Saturday lunch and several evenings and these have all been special occasions for me and remain as lovely memories. As these occasions have been so many moons ago however, I will refrain from a detailed review on the food as I would do it an injustice (and unfortunately have limited food photographs to show) however, I will say in confidence that the set menus here are very good value and the salads, starters and mains are all on par with the Oxo Brasserie, where the food is quaffable, but far from transcendant – it is the location and setting that is the main attractant. Certainly not offensive as food though and I would recommend going once in your life as a minimum as it is a very impressive and highly satisfying venue to experience in the sun. The nightclub is one of a kind for London and a great thing to do, with the only negative being that any visit here will end up being 5 times more expensive that you would wish as the alluring setting will make it difficult to leave.
