Smart French brasserie concept and new opening in Canary Wharf for 2024
Marceline is a new entry for Canary Wharf (2024) on a floating platform opposite Hawskmoor in the ever expanding Wood Wharf. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served here and the menu has several options at a very reasonable price. This visit was in its opening phase so there were plenty of teething aspects such as a huge gaggle of staff at the front of house chatting making the entrance not ideal, general topping up of drinks and water could have been better and the spaghetti dish was entirely below par for example. However, the decor and interior are completely original, the prawn cocktail, steak tartare and chicken in particular were very appealing and the staff are genuinely trying. I’m sure this will be a good option in time once the initial aspects are smoothed out – I do hope the mayonnaise and ketchup are upgraded from Heinz which, for a French brasserie would drastically elevate it for not much cost. Owing to the soft launch, numerous dishes were tried whilst discounted and I would return for one or two of these. I will try breakfast here as well to compare with Roe.
